Check dead links for God’s sake

We all naturally care a little more about our new posts, and a little less about our older posts.  But to the visitor who was just referenced to your six-month-old-buried-like-a-dinosaur-”oh yeah I remember writing that”-post and they are all primed to click over to the authoritative site you linked to… yeah, they want that link to work.  There is nothing like the let-down of hitting a 404 page.  (If hitting a 404 page actually is the biggest let down you face, please disconnect your computer immediately.)

And even if you don’t care a lick about your visitors and you only want to see your rankings improve (if this is you, ask someone to slap you with a thawed out salmon), you should still check your links, cause you know the “Big G” is.  And Big G doesn’t like your site to have bad links.  Got it?!?!

But who wants to go through and check all of their links, see all of their old ramblings, and have to scramble through 100’s of posts?  Not me.

So use this tool.

That tool is free, quick, and can also be used for a lot of other nifty things.  If you’ve got ideas of other cool tools like this, let me know in the comments.
