Add a Sitemap and link to it from every page…
Absolutely, this is so important, you don’t even know. Give the spiders what they want, and have a sitemap that is linked to from every single page.
This way, no page in your site is more than 2 clicks away…
If you are running Wordpress, this is a great sitemap plugin for ya.
A couple of other great ways to use your sitemap are:
- Put a sitemap on your 404 page… that way people can find the article by hand if they can’t find the thing any other mother f****** way.
- Put a sitemap on your pages where there is a failed search… like this.
- Be a true badass and put a sitemap on your homepage and spread your homepage’s linkjuice like spreading fertilizer in a parking lot. (Yeah, bad analogy).
If you don’t have a sitemap, don’t let the day pass without adding one.
